CEO: Serves as the chief executive of GateWay with responsibilities for fulfilling the mission and meeting the objectives of the organization. Manages the day-to-day operations with the authority to carry out responsibilities, in accordance with the direction and policies of GateWay Boarding Academy.
ACCOUNTANT: Formulates, executes and monitors financial and budget plans and expenditures for a college preparatory boarding school in accordance with GateWay policies and professionally acceptable financial and accounting standards. Records and maintains all documents and files associated with budget planning and spending and provides recurring reports, briefings and updates to internal and external stakeholders concerning the financial status and stability of GateWay Academy.
TEACHER: Plans and develops courses of instruction and lesson plans for grades 7-12, considering age, developmental level and special needs of students in the GateWay Boarding Academy. Develops instruction in accordance with established curriculum and selects material to meet the interest, abilities and developmental needs of male adolescents. Responsible for direct delivery of training and instruction as well as the evaluation of the effectiveness of material, presentation and progress of students. Records and maintains all documents and files associated with student grades and evaluations.
NURSE: Provides health, nursing and advisory services to students of GateWay Boarding Academy within established policies and procedures and assesses the health needs of students, taking into account the total situation in the family and home.
MAINTENANCE WORKER: Performs a wide variety of custodial and minor maintenance duties in maintaining boarding school building, adjacent walks and grounds, and equipment in clean, orderly and functional condition. Provides assistance to staff, visitors and other employees as necessary.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: Performs various administrative, office support functions to enable the efficient and effective operations of GateWay Boarding Academy and staff.
SOCIAL WORKER : Assists with emotional health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents/guardians and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling. Provides social services and assistance to improve the social and emotional functioning of students and to maximize the well-being and the academic functioning of the student.
HOUSE PARENT: Serves as the responsible adult for students attending GateWay Boarding Academy, fulfilling a variety of responsibilities associated with students’ care, boarding accommodations, meals, study, recreation and weekend activities. House parents will live in or near GateWay Boarding Academy.
SECURITY SPECIALIST: Develops, plans and executes security policies, programs, procedures and guidance for safeguarding personnel, property, information, and operations as well as emergency preparedness policies, programs, and procedures for a college preparatory boarding school, its staff and students. Records and maintains all security files and documents in accordance with GateWay policies and procedures.Employment Non-discrimination Policy

GateWay READ 180 Teacher plans and develops lessons following the guidelines of READ 180, a comprehensive reading intervention program for students who currently read below their grade level. GateWay READ 180 Teachers are responsible for the direct delivery of training and instruction as well as evaluation of the progress of students.
Principle Duties and Job Functions
- Prepare and deliver course lesson plans
- Observe student performance through regular interaction and assessments
- Evaluate progress toward understanding of material and concepts
- Prepare and deliver written report on student progress and grades
- Maintain files
- Assign tasks to GateWay READ 180 Volunteers
- Provide supervision of youth during non-instructional class time, e.g., overseeing youth during restroom breaks
Experience and Qualifications Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of two years’ experience as an instructor in an academic setting
- Computer literacy skills
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to build and nurture trust, partnership and collaboration with students, parents/guardians, and other GateWay READ 180 staff and volunteers; previous experience working with youth is a plus
- Conflict resolution and crisis management skills
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is a plus
Personal and Professional Characteristics
- Ability to exercise patience and diplomacy in dealing with students, parents/guardians, and other GateWay READ 180 staff and volunteers
- A self-starter who is highly motivated and able to work unsupervised for extended periods
- Ability to handle restricted and confidential information in a professional manner and always protect said information
